Support Art Focused on Food Justice
I am honored to have been selected as the artist-in-residence and teaching fellow at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, for the Spring 2025 semester. In addition to teaching, I'll be creating the an exhibition of sculpture, photography, and video called Daily Bread.
The exhibition explores food insecurity in rural and suburban areas and the impact of consumer capitalism on the region’s low-income communities. Using data drawn from the Greenville County Food Insecurity Index, local partnerships, and in-person community engagement, Reese will develop artworks that visualize the ways discount chain stores, such as Dollar General and Dollar Tree, exacerbate food insecurity, restrict access to healthy food options, and compromise communities’ resilience to other social factors beyond just food.
To cover living and production expenses for this impactful project, I aim to raise $10,000. I am offering the opportunity for patrons to commission original art works that I will be created this spring as part of the exhibition. Your commissioned artwork will be delivered to you upon my return to Pittsburgh, making you a vital part of this creative journey.
Please explore the commission options below and join me in making a difference through art.
Raised so far: $750/$10,000
