This pre-order purchase acts as commission for a yet-to-be created table top sculpture —no larger than 10 inches in any dimension — that will be included in my exhibition Daily Bread at Furman University. You'll also receive bi-monthly postcard updates from Greenville from yours truly. Each postcard will depict a different original artwork from my archive. Your artwork will be available for personal delivery after June 1, once I get back to Pittsburgh.
About the artwork: Daily Bread explores food insecurity in the Greenville County, South Caroline and the impact of consumer capitalism on the region’s low-income communities. Using data drawn from the Greenville County Food Insecurity Index, local partnerships, and in-person community engagement, Reese will develop artworks that visualize the ways discount chain stores, such as Dollar General and Dollar Tree, exacerbate food insecurity, restrict access to healthy food options, and compromise communities’ resilience to other social factors beyond just food.
